NATIONAL HISTORY
Alpha Tau Omega's roots date back to the Civil War and the division it caused in our country. In 1865, an 18-year-old cadet at the Virginia Military Institute named Otis Allan Glazebrook organized a group of young men from both the Confederacy and the Union, united by their shared faith in God, to found Alpha Tau Omega. This group of men brought together those previously divided and built what would become one of the strongest national fraternities in America, with over 234,000 members and over 140 chapters on most major university campuses.
